Soulfly is an American metal band formed in Phoenix, Arizona in 1997. The original lyrical content revolved around spirituality, political and religious themes, with later albums encompassing other themes including war, violence, aggression, slavery, hatred and anger. Soulfly is led by former Sepultura frontman Max Cavalera, who formed the band after he left the Brazilian group in 1996. To date the band has released ten studio albums, one tour EP, twenty-three singles, one video album, and twelve music videos. Their debut album, Soulfly, was released on April 21, 1998, while their newest album, Archangel, was released on August 14, 2015.
Nailbomb was a metal band formed in 1994 as side project by Brazilian musician Max Cavalera of Sepultura, Cavalera Conspiracy and Soulfly and English musician Alex Newport of Fudge Tunnel. The band recorded one studio album, Point Blank, and played one live performance before disbanding the next year.HistoryNailbomb hosted other musicians to play guest spots, including D.H. Peligro (Dead Kennedys), Max Cavalera's brother Igor Cavalera (Sepultura co-founder), and guitarist Dino Cazares (co-founder and guitarist of Fear Factory). Nailbomb's second album, Proud to Commit Commercial Suicide, was a live recording capturing the band's appearance at the 1995 Dynamo Open Air Festival in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. The project has largely been abandoned for over two decades, with no intention of the band ever reuniting or releasing any new material. However, in April 2017 Max announced he will play the entire 'Point Blank' album under his band Soulfly, later in 2017. However, Alex Newport is not set to be part of these performances, with Max citing his busy schedule as the reason.
Incite ignite heavy metal once more with their fourth full-length album and highly anticipated metal record for 2016 Oppression [minus HEAD Records]. Since the release of their full-length-debut The Slaughter in 2009, the Phoenix, AZ quartet has shared stages with everyone from Dillinger Escape Plan, Cancer Bats, and 36 Crazyfists to Crowbar, Soulfly, and Cavalera Conspiracy in addition to headlining countless gigs. Over the course of two more explosive offerings, All Out War [2012] and Up In Hell [2014], they’ve earned acclaim from Kerrang!, ARTISTdirect, and many others as well as “Album of the Week” honors from Revolver. Songs such as “Army of Darkness” charted Top 40 on the SiriusXM metal charts. However, 2016 sees the band evolve into a more brutal and brash beast ready to claw its way to the genre’s upper echelon one show at a time.
